If you look back at the runways of 2018 and 2019, you’ll notice that the only thing more obvious than the lack of diversity among the models (yes, shade) is the increase of volume in the sleeves over time. Now in 2020, sleeve puffiness is in full swing and personally, I’m here for it.
The big sleeves and large shoulders were seen all over the Fall 2020 runway shows of brands like Fendi, Rodarte, Balenciaga, Chanel, Miu Miu and more.
Enlarged shoulders and bigger sleeves add a sense of elegant drama to the outfit even if it’s casual. Also, adding the volume on the arms and shoulders gives you a slimmer frame especially when cinching the waist with a belt or having a tighter bodice.
If you’re one that likes to keep up with trends, this is super easy to get into. Any type of bulk in the sleeve will do, which isn’t hard to find right now being that it’s so trendy.
If you’re looking for inspiration, don’t worry I got that too. Check out some pictures below for ways to style these sleeves for those of us who aren’t walking down a runway.
Whether a top or a dress, this trend works. I’ve honestly always been a fan of the large sleeves and shoulders. It really gives a powerful look when wearing it and I’m really pumped to see it becoming more mainstream.
