Free Classes You Can Take While in Quarantine

It’s no secret that due to coronavirus, we are going to be stuck at home for quite some time. For those of us who are trying to find something to do, I may have found something to help. I understand you don’t have to be super productive during quarantine, but I do think that you may want to take this opportunity to do that one thing that you’ve always wanted to do if you had more time. I’m not shaming anyone but we may never (hopefully) get time at home like this again.

I know everyone has complained about boredom, and what better way to get rid of it than to learn something? I might be the only one here but I love to learn anything and everything I can, so when I heard that reputable universities, institutions, and companies are providing people with free online classes I got VERY excited.

Here is a short list of free classes and programs that I found interesting that you can join while quarantined for FREE.

Udemy

With Udemy you can take over 700+ online courses that range from topics like presentation skills to coding your first game. Courses range in different time lengths as well.

Copenhagen Business School: “Sustainable Fashion”

As a fashion student, sustainability and fashion is drilled into your head constantly… and for good reason. If you want to start a business in the fashion industry, you’ll probably want to start looking at ways to make it more sustainable and this class can help. The best part is that this course can be completed in 6 hours.

Netflix

No, this isn’t a class, but it’s something you can do for free because of COVID-19. For those documentary fans who don’t want to pay for streaming services, Netflix has provided over 20 hours of free documentaries on their YouTube page! I actually really like all the documentaries and highly recommend “13th,” which discusses racial inequality in the United States, and “Period. End of Sentence” which gives gives light to the Indian woman fighting against the stigma of menstruation. PPA: Professional Photographers of America

Institut Français de la Mode: “Understanding Fashion: from Business to Culture”

Institut Français de la Mode is among the top 25 fashion schools in the world, according to fashionista. Having this class for free is a HUGE deal and the guests lecturers are just as incredible. Jacquemus and the CEO of LVMH Fashion Group (the owners of companies like Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior), Sidney Toledano, are just the tip of the iceberg. This class is four weeks long and requires 3 hours of studying per week, but don’t worry, you can go at your own pace and learn as much as you want.
