First thing to note about this entire thing is that yes, I was sent this for free but only because I am part of an organization called Her Campus, and within that, I applied and was accepted to a sector called campus trendsetters. As a campus trendsetters, every month we have the opportunity to apply to receive PR boxes from brands, and I applied for Conair. Luckily I was accepted and frankly, I thought I was getting something simple and small (I needed a new hair brush).
To my surprise, I got a lot of stuff that I didn’t even know was affiliated with conair. Did you know Conair makes skin care tools and dental hygiene tools?
Here’s what I got…
Travel Smart Jet Tags
I have to admit, the best part of these luggage tags is the color. They are BRIGHT, which is perfect if you are traveling with checked luggage. Also, they are made of rubber, so it won’t break and rip like paper tags. Although, because it’s rubber, you have to write your information with a sharpie, so if you need to write new information you will need a new tag. I mean, it’s a luggage tag, it does it’s job, there’s not much to review.

Interplak Portable Water Jet
Of all the products I received, this is one that I was not expecting to get from Conair at all. However, I have to admit, it’s pretty cool. If you’re familiar with the Water Pik, then you get the picture. However, this one is portable, battery operated, and has two settings. Also, the tank that you fill with water lasts 60 seconds. I used to have a Water Pik, and honestly, this feels the exact same and it’s way cheaper. It’s extremely easy and actually kind of fun to use (I’m imagining spraying people with it). My dad really wanted it so I gave it to him and he seems to be enjoying it a lot. Out of all the products I received, this is the most useful and has the least amount of gimmicks.

True Glow SKINPOD by Conair:
So, this little vibrating scrumbie is one item that I was really excited about. I think we all have heard of the clarisonic and the foreo, but there’s a hefty price tag that comes with them. For the Skinpod, there are two different vibration settings, it is battery operated and there are three different sections on the pod and they are all meant to do different things.
- Zone One: (top) Rebalance oily skin for a refreshed and youthful glow
- Zone Two: (right) Re-energize normal skin to uncover a more luminous look
- Zone Three: (left) Refine dry and sensitive skin to improve the absorption of your favorite skincare products
After reading the description of the Skinpod online, I thought it was going to be a complete dupe for the foreo, but I was sadly disappointed. If you’re looking for something that will scrub the dirt and grime out of your pores, I don’t think this is it. I will say, my skin was very smooth afterwards, but there was no difference worth the purchase.
I’m almost positive this is just bait for people (like me) who wanted a cheaper version of the expensive fancy cleansers and the different zones are just a marketing ploy.

Lighted Makeup Spot Mirror
You can’t really go wrong with this little mirror. It is a 12x magnification with a light, so expect to see EVERYTHING… all your worst skincare nightmares in one mirror. I really enjoyed the fact that it has a suction cup on the back (which I use to stick the mirror on my rotating mirror) along with a stand. I have to be honest though, if you need a mirror with this type of magnification, go for it. Still, I feel like it’s just too much and I would never need this much magnification.

Unbound Cordless Curling Iron
Okay, okay, okay. THIS is the product that is by far one of the most exciting things to get. It’s a curling iron WITH NO CORD. Did you know this existed?
I couldn’t wait to use it, and yet, I had to wait… 3 hours. Yes, unfortunately, no cord means longer charging periods. It takes 3 hours to fully charge, but only lasts for 25 minutes of use. Fortunately, I have short hair and it naturally curls a bit at the nape of my neck, so the 25 minutes does bother me much. However, my sister, who has extremely long, thick hair, wouldn’t even finish curling a quarter of her head.
The curling iron is a 1 inch titanium barrel and has 4 temperatures: 280, 320, 360, and 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Underneath the temperatures, a battery icon will glow when it’s plugged in and fully charged and then blink when it’s needs charging.
There were just too many annoyances with this product. It started with the charge time but it also has to do with the size of the barrel. You can see in the picture how small it is compared to the bottom portion. Also, this curling iron has an automatic shut off when you stop using it, which sounds great, but it’s too quick. It should be a 15 minute auto- off but I put down the curling iron for around 30 seconds to section my hair and grab a clip and it turned off. The only good thing about this product is that I have free range and it’s easy to store since there isn’t a long cord to wrap around.
The thing is, if you know you want to curl your hair the next day, you can just plug it in to charge overnight and wake up the next day and curl it or use it to touch up. However, if it’s a quick decision, you cannot use this curling iron unless you have three hours to spare for it to charge.
Will I use it? Yes. Am I only using it because I got it for free and wouldn’t have bought it otherwise? Yes.
